“The proposal from Eriko is interesting,” said Huda at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday. According to Huda, the possibility of PKB allying with PDIP in Jakarta is open if PDIP is willing to become the deputy governor for Anies and if PKS does not manage to find a coalition partner in the Jakarta Pilkada. “It’s possible that PKB, with PDIP as the deputy, could happen if PKS does not get to find a coalition partner,” explained Huda.

PKS does not close the door to forming a coalition with the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) after officially nominating Anies Baswedan-Sohibul Iman as the gubernatorial and vice-gubernatorial candidates for the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada. “Yes, it is very possible (to form a coalition with PDIP),” said Syaikhu at the opening of the Party Leadership School at the Grand Sahid Hotel, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (25/6/2024).

**PKB: We Want to Build Jakarta with PDIP** The National Awakening Party (PKB) expressed a desire to work together with the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) to build Jakarta. PKB Secretary-General Hasanuddin Wahid stated that PKB cadres and grassroots are pushing for Anies Baswedan to run in the Jakarta Pilkada. According to him, the decision would be even more effective if PDIP joins in supporting Anies. “Basically, we want to build Jakarta together, and PDIP also joins in,” said Hasanuddin Wahid to reporters on Tuesday. Hasanuddin mentioned that if PDIP joins PKB and PKS in supporting Anies, it would be even better and increase the chances of winning. “We are happy, the more support for Mas Anies, the better,” he stated.

The decision to consider nominating the former presidential candidate as Jakarta’s gubernatorial candidate came after PDIP DPP Chairperson Said Abdullah met with PKB General Chair Muhaimin Iskandar, also known as Cak Imin, to discuss cooperation in the Jakarta Pilkada. “The existing names will be reviewed later. All names are considered,” said PDIP DPP Chairperson Puan Maharani at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday. Besides the Jakarta Pilkada, Puan also admitted they are considering figures for the East Java Pilkada. “We communicate all names and also try to simulate them because each region has its own peculiarities. So all names need to be considered,” she stated.

Head of Lingkar Madani (Lima), Mr. Rangkuti, admitted surprise at PKS’s resigned move. “I am surprised by PKS. They were very quick. Even before the banana leaf turned yellow, they had already reversed their policy,” said Ray in a written statement on Wednesday. According to Ray, this move by PKS is a sign of PKS’s weakness in negotiation and lobbying. At least, PKS has lost the opportunity twice to place their cadre in the gubernatorial position. “PKS’s weakness is their negotiation and lobbying ability. In the Jakarta political scene, PKS has accepted negotiation defeats at least twice. First, when Mardani Ali Sera was dropped as a deputy gubernatorial candidate and when they lost the right to get the gubernatorial position when Sandiaga ran as a vice-presidential candidate,” explained Ray.

He explained that the PKS Central Executive Board’s (DPP) decision to nominate Anies and Sohibul Iman for the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election was based on suggestions from the PKS Jakarta Regional Leadership Board (DPW). “I have received a letter from the DPW DKI Jakarta structure that proposed the DKI gubernatorial candidate to the PKS DPP, followed by the vice-gubernatorial candidate for DKI to the PKS DPP. Among the letters, there was a request to endorse, approve, and designate Mr. Anies Rasyid Baswedan and Mr. Mohammad Sohibul Iman as the gubernatorial and vice-gubernatorial candidates for DKI,” said Syaikhu.

PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu explained the reason his party decided not to nominate PKS Syuro Council Chairman Sohibul Iman as the prospective gubernatorial candidate for Jakarta in the 2024 Pilkada. Instead, Sohibul was decided to run as the prospective vice-gubernatorial candidate for Jakarta. The position of the prospective gubernatorial candidate was given to Anies Baswedan, who is the former Governor of DKI Jakarta for the 2017-2022 period. “I think PKS is also realistic about the nominations in DKI, and this is the best composition,” said Syaikhu at the Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (25/6/2024).
