Partai Keadilan Sejahtera (PKS) shifted direction by nominating Anies Baswedan as the gubernatorial candidate in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada while its own cadre, Sohibul Iman, is only nominated as the deputy governor candidate.

“The proposal from Eriko is interesting,” said Huda at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday. According to Huda, the possibility of PKB allying with PDIP in Jakarta is open if PDIP is willing to become the deputy governor for Anies and if PKS does not manage to find a coalition partner in the Jakarta Pilkada. “It’s possible that PKB, with PDIP as the deputy, could happen if PKS does not get to find a coalition partner,” explained Huda.

PKB Secretary-General Hasanuddin Wahid stated that PKB cadres and grassroots are pushing for Anies Baswedan to run in the Jakarta Pilkada. **Puan Says PDIP Considers Nominating Anies Baswedan in Jakarta Pilkada** The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) is considering the name Anies Baswedan to be nominated in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada. The decision to consider nominating the former presidential candidate as Jakarta’s gubernatorial candidate came after PDIP DPP Chairperson Said Abdullah met with PKB General Chair Muhaimin Iskandar, also known as Cak Imin, to discuss cooperation in the Jakarta Pilkada. “The existing names will be reviewed later. He explained that the PKS Central Executive Board’s (DPP) decision to nominate Anies and Sohibul Iman for the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election was based on suggestions from the PKS Jakarta Regional Leadership Board (DPW). “I have received a letter from the DPW DKI Jakarta structure that proposed the DKI gubernatorial candidate to the PKS DPP, followed by the vice-gubernatorial candidate for DKI to the PKS DPP. Among the letters, there was a request to endorse, approve, and designate Mr. Anies Rasyid Baswedan and Mr. Mohammad Sohibul Iman as the gubernatorial and vice-gubernatorial candidates for DKI,” said Syaikhu.

PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu explained the reason his party decided not to nominate PKS Syuro Council Chairman Sohibul Iman as the prospective gubernatorial candidate for Jakarta in the 2024 Pilkada. Instead, Sohibul was decided to run as the prospective vice-gubernatorial candidate for Jakarta. The position of the prospective gubernatorial candidate was given to Anies Baswedan, who is the former Governor of DKI Jakarta for the 2017-2022 period. “I think PKS is also realistic about the nominations in DKI, and this is the best composition,” said Syaikhu at the Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (25/6/2024).
