Spread the love

Hello, young explorers! Do you also have thoughts about the hidden messages the universe conceals within its magnificent sky? Being a curious kid, I used to get these thoughts, too. And yes, now I know there are many wonderful things in space to explore, like the ethereal blue, mysterious planets, shiny bright stars, giant storms on planets far from Earth, and much more.

If you have always wanted to become an astronaut or are simply interested in learning about the universe, continue to read.

These six amazing facts about the space will surely get your attention. So, pack up your bags and prepare yourself to be amazed when exploring the wonders of the universe.

Space Is Completely Silent

Did you know that space is totally silent?

While Earth has natural sounds ranging from those made by animals and birds to those made by humans, space does not contain air to vibrate and transfer the sound. In other words, if there is no air around you, you wouldn’t be able to hear anything while being in space.

The Sun Is a Star

NOT a little star, as you might imagine from the nursery rhyme ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star,’ our sun is a giant star! Well, it’s just a big fireball that keeps our world warm and allows it to see in the darkness.

Bonus fact: Without the sun, there would be no life on Earth. Why? Because the sun creates wind, gives warmth, and provides energy for plants to make food for us.

There Are More Stars Than Grains of Sand

Think of every single grain of sand in every single beach in the entire universe. Now, if I tell you there are more stars in the universe than all those grains of sand, would you believe it? Yes, there are. The space is enormous, and there is a lot that we have not seen and might never see.

A Day on Venus Is Longer Than a Year

Venus, the closest planet to us, has a quite different day than Earth. The total cycle of day and night and the time needed for Venus’ revolution around the sun lasts as long as one year. This means that 720 Venusian solar days are equivalent to one revolution around the sun, and one Venusian year, which contains 243 Earth days, is comparable to 188 Earth days.

Space Is a Vacuum

The space is empty and has no elements like air, water, or even atmosphere that one would find in everyday life. This is why astronauts wear space suits when they go to space. These suits guard them against extreme conditions and enable them to breathe as they work.

There’s a Giant Storm on Jupiter

The great red spot on Jupiter is a large storm bigger than the whole Earth. This storm is so giant it can accommodate three planet Earths within its belly. It has been burning for at least 400 years and, as such, has become one of the most notable features of our solar system.
